According to the data compiled by China's customs, Chin's steel product exports totaled 4.67 million t in April of 2012, dipping by 0.36 million tons compared to March and by 2.14% year over year. At the same time, China's overall steel product exports came to 16.81 million t in January- April of 2012, up 10.2% year on year.
In April of 2012, China had imported 1.13 million t of the steel products, decreasing by 60 thousand tons from previous month while down 21.24% from prior year. On the other hand, from January to April of this year, Chinese overall steel product imports amounted to 1.54 million t, down 18.3% year over year.
Besides China also imported 20 thousand t of the billet in April and the overall billet imports amounted to 0.13 million t in January- April, down 39.8% compared to the same period of last year.
At the same time, Chinese coke exports came to 40 thousand t in April and the year-to-date coke exports stood at 0.29 million t, down 82.8% year over year.
In April of 2012, China's iron ore imports had registered a month-on-month decrease of 5.18 million t and reached 57.69 million t, up 9.10% from prior year. Meanwhile, the year-to-date iron ore imports had aggregated to 244.60 million t, up 6.5% from the corresponding period of last year.
